Meet Memphis

Memphis started out as Michael’s wife, Gayle, and one other lady providing background vocals for his “Tribute to Elvis” show in 1998. As Michael started getting more and more bookings for three and four hour performances, he expanded his show to include sets which featured 50’s and 60’s music, country and old rock and roll. With Michael on keyboards and the two ladies as solo performers, Memphis was born. Today Memphis consists of Gayle “Dean” Root, Mechele Bradford, Van Stisher and Doug “J.D.” Moss, all on vocals with Dennis Thrasher, Sound Technician and Ricky Bartlett, Lighting.

Gayle, Mechele, Van and J.D. together make up an outstanding backup group for Michael Dean, but individually each is an excellent soloist, as well. A night with Memphis would consist of Gayle Dean performing hits from such greats as Patsy Cline, Connie Francis or Brenda Lee; Mechele would bring a more contemporary country sound with such greats as Reba McEntire and Martina McBride; Van would bring a more classic country sound with hits from Linda Ronstadt, Loretta Lynn and Tanya Tucker; J.D., the bass singer in the group, would add his deep, rich bass sound to hits from greats such as Jim Reeves and Brooks Benton; with Michael on keyboards performing hits from The Rolling Stones, Bob Segar, Jimmy Buffet, Chuck Berry , Jerry Lee Lewis and Mickey Gilley. With such a wide variety of talent, Michael Dean & Memphis has performed for private and corporate events throughout the United States, including such places as Branson, Las Vegas, Nashville, and Gatlinburg. They can provide a concert style show or a more laid back atmosphere for dances and special events, tailoring their show to incorporate the different needs and themes (i.e..Sock Hops, Hawaiian Luaus, 70’s and Disco, and classic and/or contemporary Country).
